Dear Parents /Carers
We have been impressed with the great start to learning that our Year 3 children have made. They
have adapted very well to the new routines and challenges of junior school life.
This coming half term we anticipate a busy time, we will be leaving the stone age behind and will be
looking at ‘The Power of the Earth’. We will be building on our science work on rocks and learning more
about volcanoes as well as exploring why earthquakes and Tsunamis occur in nature. We will also spend
some time commemorating the centenary of World War I which will link into our RE topic where we will
think about how and why we give thanks.
The our ‘Power of the Earth will link heavily to our work in English, where we will be looking at descriptive
writing and story openers. We will also be writing formal and informal letters.
May we take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. To ensure that your child
reaches their full potential, it is essential that we carry on working in partnership with you. May we also
remind you of the importance of your children reading a wide range of texts and knowing all their times
tables up to 12 x 12.
