Social Media Manager Job Description
Ferrero USA, a leading global confectionery manufacturer with a strong track record of
innovations and a great reputation for the quality of its products, is looking for a Social Media
Manager. The job will be located in our Somerset, NJ office.
Responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of strategic social media and digital
initiatives including developing and managing viral marketing campaigns, creating and
supervising high-profile channel accounts, and integrating interactive media into the overall
media plan and business strategy. Other duties may include search engine optimization /
search engine marketing (SEO / SEM) integration, monitoring and analysis of social media
trends and their impact on the company’s brands, and supervision of external teams. The right
candidate will have a degree in communications, marketing or related field; 8+ years of
marketing, agency or public relations experience (including demonstrable social networking
experience); previous experience in the development and implementation of media planning
and buying strategies within the advertising industry; and a strong familiarity of online marketing
best practices.
Job Description
Social Media Manager will implement Ferrero’s Social Media Strategy, develop brand
awareness, generate inbound traffic and cultivate leads and sales. The Social Media Manager
is a highly motivated individual with experience and a passion for content strategy, blogging,
micro-blogging and community participation leadership. This position is full-time salaried with
benefits.
Responsibilities
1. Be able to develop and execute digital objectives, budgets, plans, negotiations, content,
development, KPIs and measurement plans.
2. Develop Clear and Measurable Objectives. It isn’t enough to say you “see” results.
Measurement is about more than just results. It must tie back to the objectives. You’ll
never know your ROI without first setting objectives.
3. Ensure Great Design. Visual content has a lasting effect. Whether it’s our status
updates, our landing pages or our Facebook ads, what the audience sees is what they’ll
remember. Make sure it’s compelling and gets the point across.
4. Improve Content Strategy. We have great brands that surprise and delight our
consumers. We want you to uncover quality information that’s relevant to our audience
and build our social community around it.
5. Ensure Promotion Strategy. We need to continually grow our fan base.
6. Create an Engagement Strategy. We need a plan on how to engage our fans and build
those relationships. Social Media manager will listen, respond, ask questions and
engage with our audience.

7. Manage Conversion Strategy. Once we have grown fans and engaged them, we need a
strategy on how to convert them into customers. We are looking for the right person to
advise Sr. management and help train the brand teams so we get where we want to go
faster, more efficiently and more cost-effectively.
Essential Duties















Develop 3-5 year digital strategy with the Marketing team, Media Manager and Brand
teams
Define and translate business strategies into concrete Digital objectives, strategies,
tactics and KPIs
Lead development of digital content required to achieve key business objectives
Manage Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:

Curate relevant content to reach the audience most likely to buy
•
Write, edit and manage editorial content (and content calendar)
•
Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “Social” way while cultivating leads and
sales
•
Conduct online advocacy and open stream for cross-promotions
•
Develop and expand community and/or blogger outreach efforts
•
Oversee design (i.e.: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr)
•
Be at the leading edge of Social developments (i.e. Medium, iHeartit)
•
Design, create and manage promotions and social ad campaigns
•
Compile report for management showing results (ROI)
Become an advocate for the Company in Social Media spaces, engaging in dialogues
and answering questions where appropriate
Strategically lead the development of programmatic Social (including budgeting, buying
and reporting)
Demonstrate ability to map out marketing strategy and then drive that strategy proven by
testing and metrics
Implement a proactive strategy for capturing customer online reviews
Monitor online ratings and respond accordingly
Monitor trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the business,
report to appropriate management
Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations
and plans for revising the Social Media campaigns
Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of Social Media programs
Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize
results
Work with media partners to cross-promote learnings from digital campaigns and
develop iteratively improved cross-media campaigns

Qualifications and Experience





















Bachelors Degree
Possesses knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing. Marketing
degree is welcomed but not required with relevant work experience.
Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in Social Media (Give links as
examples).
Proficient in content marketing theory and application
Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing
Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to
demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms and their
respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Google, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest,
Vine, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios
Verifiable examples of social media marketing success and wins
Maintains excellent writing and language skills
Impeccable attention to detail
Enjoys a working knowledge of the blogging ecosystem relevant to the candy and food
industries (or adjacent categories)
Exceptional business translation skills = Can visualize as well as convey a message into
relative and interesting content. Displays ability to effectively communicate information
and ideas in written and video format.
Exceeds at building and maintaining sales relationships, online and off
Is a Team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees and
agencies when necessary. (i.e.: content development, creation and editing of content,
and online reputation management)
Makes evident good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly
Maintains a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research
Highly knowledgeable in the principles of Search, Social, Display, Video, Mobile and
Local media types
Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with digital agencies, tech
companies, analytics vendors and measurement companies
Comfortable with Programmatic buying and all the steps in the digital media work flow
Demonstrates winning Social Customer Service techniques
Possesses great ability to identify potential negative or crisis situation and apply conflict
resolution principles to mitigate issues
