Article I
Name of Organization
The name of this organization shall be Compass.
Article II
Purpose of Organization
The purpose of this organization shall be to serve as an ambassador group for Lambert High School by
assisting staff in noticing and empowering staff and students, showcasing the school, and weighing-in on
important issues.
Article III
Positions
There will be two titles for leadership positions in Compass. The first shall be Advisor. There shall be a
maximum of four advisors to Compass at any given time and all advisors must be Lambert High School
staff members.
The second title shall be Managing Members. There shall be no more than three managing members at
any time, a maximum of one from each grade level. The selection process for becoming a managing
member shall be an application and interview process completed by the advisors and Senior Managing
Member. Only one applicant from each grade level may be selected. If the application committee does
not feel one grade level has a candidate fit to have the position of Managing Member, they can refuse to
offer the position to the grade level for the year, however they cannot select a second Managing
Member from another grade level.
Article IV
Membership
Membership is limited to Lambert High School students only, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender
expression, national origin, physical limitation, handicap or sexual orientation.
Basis of membership should be decided upon by the advisors of Compass through an application process
taking place at the end of the first semester each academic year.
Members will apply and be notified of acceptance before the end of the first semester of the academic
year and will serve the second semester of that year and the first semester of the next. All members
and potential members must apply to be selected to serve each year.
Membership dues shall be no more than $40 per annum. A difference between new member fees and
returning member fees can occur.
Article V
Removing a Managing Member
There shall be two ways to remove a Managing Member. If a Managing Member is removed by one of
these methods, he/she may never serve as a Managing Member again, but may serve as a member.
Section 1.
Removal by membership voting.
A member may move that a vote be taken to remove a Managing Member at any mandatory meeting.
If the movement is seconded by any other member, managing member, or advisor a vote should occur
immediately as the whether a managing member shall be removed from office. This vote shall be cast
via secret ballot and an advisor must tally the vote. The managing member in question may not make
any statements before or during voting. Only votes from members in attendance will be tallied, a
majority vote will remove the managing member from office and demote them to a member position.
Section 2.
Removal by executive voting.
If at any time a Managing Member or advisor wishes to remove a Managing Member from office, they
can suggest a vote take place between the advisors and other Managing Members. The Managing
Member in question shall not be a part of this process and may not speak on their own behalf. Advisors
and remaining Managing Members will cast their vote via secret ballot and votes shall be tallied in full
view of all who casted their vote. Every vote has the same weight. A majority vote will remove the
managing member from office and demote them to a member position.
Article VI
Removing a Member
There shall be two ways to remove a member. If removed, the removed member may reapply and be
reinstated as a member the next membership round.

place between the advisors and other Managing Members. The member in question shall not be a part
of this process and may not speak on their own behalf. Advisors and Managing Members will cast their
vote via secret ballot and votes shall be tallied in full view of all who casted their vote. Every vote has
the same weight. A majority vote will remove the member from Compass for the rest of their term.
Section 2.
Removal by failure to attend.
Each year Managing Members and advisors may set expectation as to the activeness each member is
expected to be an active participant of the organization. If this is not reached, a member can be
removed. The expectations must be clearly given to members and a warning must be given before
removal occurs.
Article VII
Meetings
Mandatory meeting may occur at most once every two weeks but at least once a quarter. It is an
expectation for all members and Managing Members to attend.
Article VII
Committees
Special committees may be formed. These committees must elect one member who will report directly
to a Managing Member. Committees may follow their own meeting policies, but all other rules as
illustrated in this constitution must be followed.
Article VIII
Amendments to Constitution
Managing Members and Advisors can vote via secret ballot to amend the constitution in any way. If the
votes tally a 2/3 majority or higher, the amendment may be made. If the vote tallies between a ½ and
2/3, the membership shall vote via secret ballot at the next mandatory meeting after hearing an advisor
or Managing Member speak for both sides of the issue. If a ½ or greater majority of membership votes
for the amendment, the amendment shall be made.
