By the end of the year, students should have developed basic
communication and comprehension skills. They should have
mastered basic grammar and be able to understand simple
texts and to engage in simple everyday conversations using
colloquial Greek.





By the end of the year, regularly participating students are expected to have
reached Common European Framework Level A1, i.e.:
Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate
relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography,
employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange
of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her
background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Students should also be able to sit the exam for the Certificate of Attainment in
Greek (Πιστοποιητικό Ελληνομάθειας), Level A1, acknowledged by the European
Council and awarded by the Greek State.
