Dunlap Eagles Tennis Camp 2014
Directed by Dunlap High School Men’s and Women’s tennis coaching staff –
Head Coach, Pat Gornik and Assistant Coach, Bryan Zowin – as well as current and past Dunlap
tennis players.
Coach Gornik has been with Dunlap High School since 2008. He has led the Women’s tennis team for the past 6
seasons, with 16 individuals qualifying for the IHSA state tennis tournament and 17 players being named to Mid-Illini
All-Conference teams. Coach Gornik has been associated with the boys program for the past 7 seasons, serving as the
assistant coach for 4 years before taking over the varsity team in 2012.
Coach Zowin has been with the Eagles tennis teams since 2012-13. Coach Zowin played collegiate tennis at University
of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and was the top finisher in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference . In
addition to his collegiate experience, Coach Zowin is a former USPTA tennis teaching professional and currently
instructs at River City Athletic Club in Peoria.
The Dunlap Eagles Summer Tennis program will include intensive instruction on the fundamentals of
tennis: Including ground strokes, Volleys, Overheads, Serves, proper footwork and positioning. For the
more advance players, the program will also include point strategy along with advanced tennis
training….AND for all of the students we will be promoting ….FUN!!!! While Learning and
Improving!!!
Personal racquet is required for all classes.
Group lessons with no more than 6 students per court. 3 Separate Sessions.
Registration due by May 30th to Guarantee Camp Shirt
Campers are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions.
1st SESSION - Monday, June 9th – Thursday, June 12th : $80 registration fee ($72 for GDTA members).
Swinging for Sammy - Friday June 13th: $50 (general registration and/or GDTA members)
Friday, June 13th we will be hosting the "Swinging for Sammy" 28th Annual St. Jude Tennis Classic event at
DHS Tennis Courts. This event is being held to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and in honor of
Samantha Jones, a local student that has recently been diagnosed with cancer. The event will be hosted by
area tennis pros, coaches and players. Cost of the event is $50, which is donated directly to St. Jude.
2nd SESSION – Monday, June 23rd – Friday, June 27th: $100 registration fee ($90 for GDTA members)
3rd SESSION – Monday, July 7th – Friday, July 11th : $100 registration fee ($90 for GDTA members)
1st – 3rd grade – 8:30-10:15am
7th – 8th grade – 1-2:45pm
4th – 6th grade – 10:30-12:15pm
9th-12th grade – 3-4:15pm
