4, 6 or 8 Week Business Fundamentals & Skills (BFS)
Learn more than just English for an American market!
The Business Fundamentals and Skills Certificate program helps students at every academic level build a
foundation for their professional future. The program is ideal for students who want a strong foundation in
both in business communications and a solid understanding of American business culture.
Students hone their English language skills while gaining insight into their unique abilities as working
professionals. This blend of theory and practice is designed to build student confidence. The course uses a
variety of methods to accomplish this. These methods include: team projects, presentations, guest
speakers, case studies, research, and visits to local businesses and cultural interests.

There is more to business than what happens while you are sitting behind a desk. Incorporated into your
BFS program are some fun events. Perhaps you’ll go camping in the nearby mountains or deserts for team
building exercises, or enjoy a bonfire on the beach or take a walking tour of beautiful San Diego. Being able
to socialize and network in a culturally appropriate manner is just one more thing you’ll have the chance to
explore in this innovative and career based program.
Schedule
The BFS program starts the first Monday of every month. Program lengths vary to meet student needs.

Tuition
Tuition covers all course materials and textbooks. The Activity fee covers additional expenses involved in
experiential learning such as group transportation, venue entry fees, guides, and the Retreat (that is only
offered in the quarter and semester long programs).
4-week = $1250 (activity fee $50)
One quarter = $2800 (activity fee $200)
6-week = $1750 (activity fee $75)
One semester = $4,000 (activity fee $200)
8-week = $2100 (activity fee $100)

Qualify & Apply:
To be eligible for one of our certificate programs you must have:
 English score within the last two years –or-be a native English speaker. *
 TOEFL 61
 IELTS 5.0
 TOEIC 500
-or equivalent High School Diploma (Submit this in English)
 Fill out the on-line application
At this point in the process you can expect a response from us very
quickly. You will either receive a Conditional Letter of Acceptance or
a letter explaining what more you need to do be accepted.
To Verify:
 Pay your verification fee $250
 Identification: passport or US Driver’s License**
** There is no federal or state law that prohibits the admission
of undocumented immigrants to U.S. colleges, public or
private. Federal or state laws do not require students to prove
citizenship in order to enter US institutions of higher education.
 Provide I-20 documentation, if you need one
 State your place of birth
 Proof of financial means. To demonstrate your financial means, you need to show you can support yourself
while studying in the US. Your acceptance letter will state the amount you need to show. Funds can be in
your own bank account or in someone else’s if they provide a letter of sponsorship. This is not the amount
you pay to CIBU. This is your tuition, plus living expenses of $1,500 a month.

* Students from some English speaking countries, or students who have successfully completed one academic year
in an English speaking country may be asked to interview rather than an English test score.
