Rebecca Hains announced that a quorum had been reached and called the meeting to order
at 3:07 PM

A. MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT (2/28/24) (CRS A, Donna H., 3/5/14)
BUS470-Business Policy and Strategy-Change in Course (W-III)

Donna made motion to approve this request for change in course and request to certify course as
W-III. Zach seconded. Change will take effect in fall 2015. Speech removed as prerequisite because general education core requires students to complete an oral
communication course. Theatre and Speech added to list of affected departments that
were consulted. Course will be used as W-III. W-II needs to be listed as pre-requisite or
co-requisite. Discussion ensued about need to include peer review in W-III Course
Information Document (CID). Peer review is included in student experiences listed in
CID. Discussion ensued about need to have final versions of courses sent to Vickie for
distribution on the Friday before the UCC meeting.
The vote to approve was unanimous.
C. SECONDARY AND HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT (5/22/14) (CRS D, Elizabeth C,
(note: these courses support flowsheets proposed in Bachelors to Masters Programs,
above)
Elizabeth motioned to approve the packet. Zach seconded. All forms are signed by appropriate
people. Language added to EDU 115 request for change in course (15:044) to state: Not open to
students who have received credit for EDU 115. Add EEC 105 and ENL 110 or equivalent to
pre-requisites for EDC 400. Delete the word “introductory” from course description for EDC
400. EEC 105 added to pre-requisites for EDC 405: Culturally Responsive Teaching. Michelle
Pierce presented documentation of support emails from affected departments. Elizabeth clarified
that a grading breakdown is not required on the CID. Earliest semester in which course can be
offered changed to Fall 2015 on EDC 406: Literacy Development II. Megan suggested that the
catalog narrative make the fieldwork expectations clear for the 4+1 program. Pre-requisite EEC
105 added to EDC 415. Language added to EDC 415 course description: ‘not open to students
who have received credit for EDU 203.” Co-requisites need to be added to Fieldwork Seminar I
(EDC 431) and II (EDC 432). Pre-requisite of EDC 431 needed for EDC 432. Clarke and
Elizabeth will confer about pre- and co-requisites for all courses in packet.
Discussion ensued about how to count and advertise credits in the request for new teacher
education minor. Flowsheets are clear about requirements. Language added to catalog narrative:
“Requires 21-30 credits plus 3-6 credits in support courses, depending on primary major.”
Megan Miller made a motion to extend the meeting for 15 minutes. Elizabeth seconded. All in
favor.
The vote to approve was unanimous.

Joe motioned to approve the Early Education and Care concentration flowsheet. Neal seconded.
The vote to approve was unanimous with one abstention. Gretchen abstained due to not being
present for the discussion.
There being no time for other business, Elizabeth moved to adjourn the meeting; Neal seconded.
The vote to adjourn was unanimous, and the committee adjourned at 4:43 PM.
