brief update
CALL FOR ARTS ORGANISATIONS TO CONTRIBUTE TO A SHOWCASE FOR
HEALTH COMMISSIONERS AND PATIENTS’ GROUPS
AESOP is hosting a national arts in health celebration/showcase in the Royal
Festival Hall on 5 February next year. This is in partnership with Dr Michael
Dixon, Chairman of the NHS Alliance, and the Southbank Centre. AESOP has a call
out for arts organisations to contribute to the showcase for health
commissioners and patient group representatives. Read more.
THE FIRST AESOP FELLOW
AESOP has just announced a search for the first AESOP Fellow. This year-long
salaried opportunity will give an early career arts manager the chance to learn
and work at the cutting edge where the arts meet community development,
health and social care, and international development. Read more.
Brief update
AESOP span out from the Rayne Foundation a year ago. Since then we have:

Launched the first ‘aesop’. Dance to Health uses high quality dance to reduce
older people’s falls. Read more.

Co-hosted with the British Council an international conference on the arts and
international development. A full report will be available in the autumn. Read
more.

A Public Health England commission to introduce health commissioners to the
Aesop 1 framework for developing and researching arts in health
programmes. Read more.

Produced Aesop 2, a planning tool for linking artistic quality and social impact.
Read more.

Established an action learning group for arts organisations already
commissioned by health or social care. Speakers have included the Chair of the
Royal Society for Public Health (on wellbeing) and Dr Sir Sam Everington (on
integrated care). The next meeting will be with Lord Filkin, Chair of the new
Centre for Ageing Better.
