Penn State Homecoming Concert is set to Kick Off Homecoming Week
Dan + Shay will perform Sunday, Oct. 4 to kick off Homecoming week and excite the Penn State
community for the weeklong festivities.
State College, Pa. (Aug. 10, 2015) — Country duo, Dan + Shay, kick off Homecoming Week Sunday,
Oct. 4, with the annual Dance Competition and Homecoming Concert.
This year’s concert will feature artists Dan + Shay. The concert will be held outside the HUB with
weather permitting. The concert will be moved to Alumni Hall in the HUB in case of inclement weather.
This event is free and ticketless.
The Student Programming Association (SPA), in conjunction with Penn State Homecoming, booked this
year’s artists. They hope to bring fun entertainment to Penn State and get students and faculty excited for
the upcoming week of Homecoming events.
“Each year, Homecoming teams up with SPA for the dance competition and concert with hopes that it
will create a fun and entertaining atmosphere to celebrate the start of Homecoming week,” Homecoming
2015 University Relations Director, Terra Tomasic, said.
The concert will start after the annual Dance Competition. The Dance Competition aims to highlight
student talent and heighten excitement for the week ahead. Penn State dance clubs, ranging in style, all
come together and compete for an exciting night.
Penn State Homecoming has teamed up with SPA in the past to bring artists such as Childish Gambino
and Matt & Kim to Penn State.
Last year Dan + Shay were nominated for three musical awards, including Vocal Duo of the Year. Last
year they were on tour with Blake Shelton and Hunter Hayes. Their song “19 You + Me,” has charted on
the “Hot Country Songs List,” and in March they performed at the 50th Academy of Country Music
Awards.
