Conference Goal
The purpose of this continuing education activity is two-fold:


To enable the learner to promote determination of cause and possible prevention of future stillbirth by
presenting current information regarding stillbirth diagnosis and testing, including placental pathology
and autopsy and
To enable the learner to achieve a greater sensitivity and increased comfort level in communicating with
and supporting parents following a fetal demise

Target Audience
Obstetricians, advance practice nurses and perinatal nurses working in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The conference is free of charge, however registration is required. Access registration online at

Objectives
As a result of attending this continuing education program, participants will be able to:
 Incorporate a multi-disciplinary approach in determining the cause of a fetal demise.
 Develop a strategy to educate patients as to the benefits of fetal autopsy.
 Apply recommendations regarding placental examination and pathology testing to the learner’s practice.
 Develop a strategy to promote the provision of supportive and compassionate care to grieving parents
while encouraging stillbirth evaluation and discussing evaluation results.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Rutgers, The State University of New
Jersey and the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.
Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This program has been awarded 3.5 contact hours.
The Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey is an approved provider of continuing nursing
education by NJSNA, an accredited approver, by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Successful completion
To receive contact hours, the registrant must sign in on the sign-in sheet and attend the entire program. In
addition, for CME, both the program evaluation and credit request forms must be completed and submitted;
for nursing contact hours, the program evaluation form must be completed and submitted. Please submit
evaluation forms at the conclusion of the program at the registration table.
Parking
Limited parking is available in Parking Lot 1 on South Orange Avenue. Parking tags are required to park on
Rutgers property. If you do not request a parking tag prior to the program, it can be picked up the day of the
program at the registration desk. No tags will be mailed after 10/7/15.
Make sure your hangtag is displayed from your rearview mirror. Do not park at spaces marked “reserved,”
“guaranteed,” or at parking meters as your car may be ticketed or towed. Please arrive early to ensure a parking
spot. Additional parking is available at the “paid” lot next to the Medical Science Building.
