The American Zhu Kezhen Education Foundation 2001 Fundraising Letter
Dear Fellow Zhejiang University Alumni:
The American Zhu Kezhen Education Foundation (AZKEF) was established in November of 1995.
The Foundation is a registered nonprofit, tax-exempt public charitable organization in the United
States. The Foundation is established for the purpose of promoting academic exchange and
cooperation between Zhejiang University and universities in the United States in aspects of
education and scientific research. The Foundation uses its funds to support selected faculty
members of Zhejiang University for advanced studies and academic cooperation in the United
States and invites American professors or scientists to teach or conduct cooperation research at
Zhejiang University. Our thrust will be directed toward catalyzing upgrading and uplifting of the
academic faculty of Zhejiang University through the exchanges, and assist Zhejiang University in
its endeavor to becoming a world-class university. You can find more detail information from the
home page of the Foundation:
http://www.azkef.org
Since 1997, the Foundation has sent nine worldwide famous professors in the United States as the
Foundation lecturers to Zhejiang University to teach and conduct cooperation research there. The
visiting of the lecturers was overwhelmingly welcomed by faculties and students at Zhejiang
University. This indeed promoted the establishment of academic relationship between Zhejiang
University and the institutions of those visiting lecturers. The foundation also awarded fellowship
to five faculty members of Zhejiang University in past years for advanced study in the United
States. The foundation has contributed many scientific books and journals to Zhejiang University.
This is the 6th year of the Foundation's fundraising campaign. We sincerely thank you for past
years' generous contribution. The total fund raised between 1996 and 2000 is up to $210,286. We
are looking for your special contribution in 2001 fundraising campaign. The American Zhu Kezhen
Education Foundation encourages generous donations from you, our dear fellow alumni, since
much of our funding shall come from people like you. Your generosity will be highly appreciated.
Whatever you can donate will be very helpful and make a significant contribution to Zhejiang
University and the society. Any and all amounts are welcome! Keep in your mind, each dollar you
donate to the American Zhu Kezhen Education Foundation will be matched with two dollars from
primary donors.
Donation to the American Zhu Kezhen Education Foundation is exempt from the Federal income
tax. The Foundation will provide you a receipt of acknowledgment upon receiving your donations
as required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). You may consult your tax adviser for the
deductibility of any specific contribution.
We welcome your comments, suggestions, and volunteer work for the Foundation.
