STUDENT PLACEMENT
CURRENT WORKPLACE FOR PLACEMENT APPLICATION
Bachelor of Applied Social Science (BAppSocSci)
Students may be currently employed or volunteering in occupations where they deliver or provide
appropriate services to clients that meet the Placement Standards of their program. Students who believe
their current workplace meets the required placement standards and learning outcomes, and who would
like to undertake their placement at their current workplace are required to first discuss this option with
your Student Placement Coordinator prior to submitting a Current Workplace Application to the Student
Placement Department.
Your application will need to include details on what duties you will carry out on your placement, in order
to meet the Learning Outcomes of the Work Integrated Placement units:





Demonstrate the practical application of knowledge and skills in workplace settings;
Apply social science concepts to analyse key practices in their placement organisations;
Analyse the influence of policy, funding, and social and cultural contexts on the organisational
mission, values, roles, structure, functions and culture;
Demonstrate ethical decision-making skills in their placement, with respect for the rights and
autonomy of clients;
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and provide culturally safe services to diverse groups.

Upon submission, the application will be assessed by the Student Placement Department who will notify
the student once their application has been assessed. If a placement is approved, the student will
proceed as though they were commencing a placement within any other organisation.
