WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2014 (Mandatory)
9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Residence Hall Check-in: “Welcome Home” (University Center Atrium)
New students residing on campus will pick up their residence hall keys from the Residence Life staff.
Widener faculty, staff, and student leaders will help move students into their residence halls.
11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Lunch (Dining Hall)
(Don’t forget to bring your ID!) Lunch will be provided to family and friends on a cash basis. Commuters
can check in with the Office of Student Life to pick up a meal pass.
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Commuter Student Check-In (Lathem Hall )
New Commuter Students will check in and pick up their Orientation schedules. This is also an
opportunity to meet the CREW and ask questions prior to going to the Commuter Meeting
2:30 pm – 3:15 pm
Commuter Meeting (Lathem Hall)
New commuter students may pick up their schedule for Fall Orientation at the University Center Atrium,
as well as address any questions regarding the week’s events.

This marks the beginning of the Fall Orientation program. Students, family and friends are invited to join
President James Harris as he welcomes you to the Widener University community.

Take this time to kiss your family goodbye! It’s now time to embark on your Widener Experience!

Come out to the Freshman Quads and enjoy a BBQ while meeting your fellow classmates and
participating in fun games and activities.

Students will meet briefly with their residence hall assistants in a mandatory floor meeting. During this
meeting Resident Assistants discuss the expectations and policies associated with living in a residence hall.

in College… now what? 10 tips for success, Speed Meeting / Ice Breakers Galore
This event is for all freshmen students who are accepted into the Widener Honors Program.

Come out and learn about the following ways to get involved and Experience Widener: Student
Government Association, Commuter Student Association, Fraternity/Sorority Life, Alternative
Spring Break, Pride Activities Council and other opportunities for involvement. Each 45 minute
session is offered three times!
This event is for all freshmen who are majoring in Hospitality Management.

Convocation (Bown Garden)
Convocation marks the official start of your academic career at Widener, and serves as the bookend to
Commencement. Faculty will be present in academic regalia; please dress appropriately for this event.
Immediately following Convocation, students will remain seated for the official class of 2015 picture!

An alcohol awareness and sex education program from the perspective of a former college student. The
session mixes creativity and humor, as well as sharing personal stories and others’ exploits while under
the influence.
