Thursday October 30th at Classrooms 1 & 2 inside the main lobby, St Francis Hospital
& the RT department will host a Pediatric & Neonatal RT Conference for 6 CEU's with
approval submitted to the AARC. We will host about 75 mostly RCP participants.
Speakers will come from:
- Children's Hospital in Pittsburg - Cleveland Clinic-NICU - Nationwide Children's Hospital at Ohio State University
- Indiana University, Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology
- Emergency Physicians of Indianapolis
Also, the speakers have various backgrounds as follows:
- RRT/NPS, Clinical Specialists - MSN, NNP, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners - MD, Neonatology Associate Professor of Pediatrics –
- MD, Board Certified Emergency Medicine - RRT/NPS, RPFT, CCT, Perfusionist
Members of the St Francis Medical Staff will speak and we can thank
1) Chris Hartman, MD from the Emergency Department, and
2) Paul Winchester, MD from the NICU for their expertise and knowledge
Lisa Scott, MSN, NNP will speak and share a Nurse practitioner's view of high
frequency ventilation in the NICU.
The Respiratory Therapy department of St Francis Hospital with assistance from
vendors and partners have assembled a really good meeting for RCP's in Central
Indiana to meet and learn. Breakfast & Lunch is included for $40.00.

Objectives:
Presenter: Paul Winchester, MD. - Title: Environmental Contaminants and
Reproductive Outcomes - Objective: To understand the influence of environmental
contaminants on pregnancy, childhood development, and adult diseases.
Presenter: Chris Hartman, MD. - Title: Pediatric Airway Emergencies
Objective: The learner will understand at least two conditions in pediatric patients
that constitute airway emergencies.
Presenter: Lisa Scott, MSN, NNP - Title: Physiologic Effects of High Frequency
Oscillatory Ventilation on the newborn - Objective: Discuss the development of high
frequency oscillating ventilation (HFOV) in neonates. Describe appropriate
applications for high frequency ventilation in the NICU. Discuss effective strategies
for ventilation and oxygenation utilizing HFOV. Identify troubleshooting strategies
for managing the neonatal patient on HFOV.
Presenter: Tom Preston, RRT-NPS, RPFT, CCT - Title: Inhaled Nitric Oxide in the
NICU - Objective: 1) To understand the uses and indications for iNO use , and 2) to
understand the side effects and precautions associated with use of iNO.
Presenter: Joe Manes, RRT-NPS. - Title: Ventilator waveform analysis in pediatric
patients. - Objective: To understand the patterns of synchrony and dysynchrony in
various modes of ventilation in pediatric patients.
Presenter: Kathy Fedor, RRT-NPS - Title: Ventilator modes in the NICU
Objective: To understand the various modes of ventilation used in NICU and trends
in mode selection for NICU ventilator patients.
