T4T's application of the
Great Commission

Go, not come.

Everyone, not just some.

Make trainers (disciples), not church
members.
Trainers (Disciples)
A trainer (disciple) =
someone who follows Jesus
(hears and obeys) +
fishes for men
(shares the message of Jesus and makes
disciples)
Mark 1:17; 2 Timothy 2:2
T4T Overview
T4T (Training for Trainers) is an all-inclusive
process of training believers over the
course of 12-18 months to witness to the
lost and train new believers to form
reproducing discipleship communities
generation by generation.
(T4T, A Discipleship Re-Revolution, 36)

Principles for Training Lessons



Biblical
Contextualized. First lessons must deal with
the most important basics of spiritual life in a
culturally appropriate application.
Simple. Simple enough for the average
believer to understand, practice and teach
someone else.
Short-Term Lessons
(6-10 simple, Biblical, contextualized lessons)
The Non-Negotiables

Baptism

Church

Communion: The Lord's Supper

Perseverance in persecution

The Great Commission (Why, Whom, How)

Prayer, Reading the Scripture
Long-Term Lessons
(teaching disciples to listen to the Holy Spirit)
Practice a simple, inductive Bible Study Pattern
One example:


Listen. What is this passage saying?
Believe. What is this passage asking me to believe?
(Pacific Union addition – Romans 1:5)

Obey. What is God asking me to do?

Share. Who can I share this message with?
From T4T Group to Church
(from Acts 2:36-47)
Covenant. A group of baptized believers (Matthew
18:20; 2:41) who recognize themselves as Christ's
body and are committed to meeting together
regularly (Acts 2:46)
From T4T Group to Church
(from Acts 2:36-47)
Caring Leaders. As the church develops, leaders are
appointed according to Biblical standards (Titus
1:5-9) and exercise mutual accountability and
church discipline.
