Having a one in three roasters for 21 months at each of the five
intensive care units, under medical supervision of anaesthesia
department:
General ICU, Postoperative ICU, Trauma ICU, Obstetric ICU
and postoperative cardiothoracic ICU.
The training of the residents and house officers.
Monthly training of CPR course for residents and undergraduate
students

 The departmental duties included a one in three casuality
roster as a 1st on call (for one year) and then 2nd on call (for
three years), dealing with different kinds of emergency,
surgical and obstetric cases.
Having duration for 6 months at the Postoperative pediatric
cardiothoracic ICU to have the basic skills of ICU training
course
Besides attending two operative lists per week (one pediatric
&one adult open heart surgery)

General medicine, general surgery, obstetric and gynaecology, paediatrics,
accident,trauma and emergency anaesthesia.
By the end of the Pre- Registration period, the Egyptian Medical
Syndicate registered me.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Assiut University Hospital is the largest Hospital in South Egypt. Serving more
than 3 million people in Upper Egypt, It has capacity of more than 1000 beds, 5 Intensive
Care Units (general (15) beds, post-operative (21) beds, trauma (25) beds, obstetric (12)
beds and paediatric postoperative cardiac and general (10) beds), a high dependency unit
for head injured patients, and a Chronic Pain Clinic. It also has a CT, MRI, Echo,
Dialysis, Coronary and Special Care Baby Unit. Separate hospitals for women and
children, Besides a centre for microvasular surgery which is well recognised world wide,
receiving patients from all over Egypt for various types of operations; vascularized
fibular graft, free muscle flap, correction of Erb's palsy, which is unfortunately not
uncommon in our country, reimplantation of amputated limbs or fingers, etc.
I spent most of my residency and as assistant lecturer in anesthetizing adult and
pediatrc patients with acquired or congenital heart disease who required open heart
surgery,and also managing them postoperatively.
I also worked at Sohag Cardiac Institute for about 2 years as anaesthetist and
intensivist.
I also participated in many anesthetic conferences(of assiut university and other
universities). I participated also in the international conference of the Egyptian
cardiothoracic anesthesia society(ECTAS) and attended the workshop on TEE.
I also participated in many courses including BLS/ALS/PALS held in assiut university
by instructors from AHA and I was certified from AHA.

The postoperative pediatric
open heart surgery(about 2
years)
I gained experience in managing different postoperative patients
underwent open heart surgery for complex congenital heart
disease(fallot tetralogy;total correction or BT Shunt, Tricuspid
atresia,Schimitar synd.,VSD,ASD,SAM)&Others.
The postoperative ICU (about
6 months)
I gained experience in managing different postoperative patients
Cardiac patients for cardiac surgery including valve replacement
and CABG, and patients after major vascular, orthopaedic,
laryngeal and neurosurgery.
The general ICU (about 6
months)
I received patients with various medical problems for example;
acute severe asthma, pulmonary oedema, respiratory failure,
cerebrovascular stroke, poisoning, eclampsia and preeclampsia,
hepatic coma, etc. I worked as an assistant lecturer and during my
residency.
The Trauma ICU Unit (6
months)
Our trauma ICU is a very busy centre dealing with all types of
injuries HEAD INJURY, THORACIC INJURIES, AND POLYTRAUMA
PATIENTS.
