CMI Level 4 Diploma in Management and Leadership
Introduction
This qualification is for you if you are an experienced Supervisor or First Line Manager. It is
designed to develop personal management capabilities, the effective use of information in
decision-making and support the development of advanced skills in managing people.
As an existing manager/supervisor the training offers you the theory to support your
existing knowledge and helps you to hone the management techniques to motivate and
manage your team. In the current economic climate, gaining qualifications and building on
your existing skills will offer you opportunity long term.
Course essentials
Thursday evenings from 4.30-8.30pm; please note that unit 5001 on Personal
Development will be taught together with the Level 5 programme on a Wednesday evening
from 4.30-8.30pm.

An introduction to managerial style
This unit is about the skills of effective and efficient managerial style and behaviour,
adapting style and behaviour, and managing and behaving in line with organisational
expectations.
Personal development as a manager and leader
This unit is about improving individual management and leadership skills and
competencies against objectives.
Managing stakeholder expectations
This unit is about the identification of organisational stakeholders, determining and
monitoring their expectations and identifying opportunities to enhance stakeholder
provision.

This unit is about introducing organisational culture, organisational and individual
values, and their impact on behaviour.
Managing team dynamics
This unit is about the skills to manage groups and teams, understanding their norms
and development, and the skills of managing remote, displaced or virtual teams.
Management report writing
This unit is about the skills of writing a management report, developing report
objectives, gathering and analysing data and information, and drawing conclusions
and making recommendations to meet objectives.
Management and leadership influencing skills
This unit is about management and leadership influencing skills which can be
employed and their impact on the achievement of individual and task objectives.
What will be expected of you?
To get the most from this course, you will be expected to attend all classes and fully
participate in all activities. Studying in your own time is also advised to help you absorb
and understand the various theory elements and how they fit into the day-to-day work
routine. Training takes place on Wednesdays from 4.30 – 8.30pm and may include tutorial,
group and one-to-one work.
Assessments
Your progress will be assessed through exercises and written assignments to ensure you
are making the progress necessary to complete the units.

The fee for this course is £2450. If your employer is paying your fee you will need to
provide details on headed paper and details for invoicing purposes.
Terms and Conditions
1. Places cannot be confirmed unless the booking is accompanied by the course fee.
2. CNWL will e-mail confirmation of booking upon receipt of the course fee.
3. Joining instructions will be sent directly to the individual trainees nearer the date of
the course.
4. CNWL reserves the right to cancel courses at any time and to transfer confirmed
bookings to rescheduled dates. Clients unable to attend the rescheduled course will
be entitled to a full refund.
5. In the event of client cancellation notice received less than one month prior to
commencement of training CNWL reserves the right to impose a 50% cancellation
fee. When notification is less than two weeks before commencement of training the
cancellation fee is 100% of the full course fee.
