Save the Children
•
Eglanyne Jebb founded the Save the Children Fund in England in 1919 to aid
children in war-ravaged central Europe.
•
In 1932 a group of forward-thinking Americans were inspired by the Jebb’s vision
and established Save the Children in the United States.
•
In 1950, Save the Children expanded education and farming programs to France,
Holland, Italy, West Germany, Austria, Finland, Greece, Lebanon and South Korea.
•
In 1970’s Save the Children’s international headquarters moved to its current
location in Westport, Connecticut. By the end of the decade, operating revenues
had grown to $12.5 million and our programs reached children in 400 communities
on five continents.

• Sponsorship Scandal in 1998
•
An investigation about the Chicago Turbine revealed that two dozen donors
were making donations to dead children.
•
An employee was forced to resign as a result and the organization had started

Dr. Shakil Afridi was said to be working for CIA, performing a fake vaccination
campaign in order to gather intelligence.
