Mechanical Details
• Many brain storming sessions were held with experts
from Industry and Academia
– Aakash performance review held with vendors, industry experts, and
IITM faculties on August 7, 2012
– 12 technical experts sub-committee from IIT Madras, IIT Bombay,
CDAC Noida, CDAC Trivandrum met twice (26&27 December 2012,
15&16 January 2013) at TCoE and drafted vendor-neutral, low-cost,
enhanced Aakash IV specification
– Standards compliances discussed with ETDC(STQC), UL Labs, TUV, etc.
– Vendors meet was held on March 11th, 2013 in Noida and received
feedback from more than ten potential Aakash manufacturers
• Total number of tests: 214
– Android Benchmark Tests: 151
– In-house Tests: 11
– Other Tests: 52
• These tests were conducted on ten different Aakash
IV candidate tablets and the results were compared
with that of Aakash II
• Aakash performance evaluation project is completed
for the initial first year with the following status
– Aakash IV Specification was published on Deity’s website on June 28,
2013 for 2 weeks for inviting comments from stake holders
– Review meeting on Aakash was held by Shri Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble
Minister of Communications and IT on July 9, 2013
– Committee met on July 17, 2013 in Bengaluru for reviewing the stake
holders comments and updating of the specification
– Aakash IV Specification is approved by Deity.
• The PRSG of the project has met on 24th
August 2013, reviewed the project and found
progress satisfactory and has recommended
release of Rs.17.5 Lakhs.
