Dr. Saal van Zwanenberg Prize 2015
The Board of the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen (Royal Holland
Society of Sciences and Humanities) announces that a prize of € 25,000 has been made
available by the Dr. Saal van Zwanenberg Stichting, part of the KHMW since 2014.
The Dr. Saal van Zwanenberg Prize is an honorary prize awarded biennially to a researcher
who has performed exceptionally well in a field of research which has led, directly or
indirectly, to the development of new medicines or has contributed to the related processes. The
full scope of research into medicines is taken into consideration: ‘from molecule to clinical
application’.
The prize is awarded to an individual researcher and is intended for a Dutch researcher, or
researcher of a foreign nationality who has carried out the work at a Dutch educational or
research institute.
Nominations for candidates should include a description of the research put forward for the
prize, a recommendation letter, as well as the curriculum vitae and list of publications of the
nominee and should be signed by at least two professors from Dutch universities, or other
experts in the field. Nominations can be addressed to the Secretary of the Dr. Saal van
Zwanenberg Stichting, Prof. dr. A. Soeteman, Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der
Wetenschappen, Spaarne 17, 2011 CD Haarlem, and should be submitted before 1 July 2015.
The nominations will be assessed by a committee of experts from the field. On the grounds of
the advice provided by these experts, the prize will be granted by the board of the Koninklijke
Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen, of which a member has chaired this committee.
