Castro promised a better life for the people of Cuba after the
corruption of Batista and we welcomed that promise. Then Castro
began a campaign of hostility against us, taking over American-owned
ranches, sugar refineries, oil refineries, hotels and banks. Castro is
making Cuba a communist dictatorship and linking the Cuban
economy with the Communist bloc.
