possible and to maximize opportunities for VIP
player participation where VIP teams are not
available.

AYSO’s VIP Mission Statement
The Mission of the AYSO VIP Program is to
provide a quality soccer experience for

No need to panic! You will have time
to prepare for your longer presentation
and the materials to help you succeed!

VIP Families –
Special Families, Special Needs
May feel they are “different”
Must deal with many agencies and
professionals
May not ask for help to join a soccer group
Respond better to personal contact
Siblings may feel isolated
VIP Families –
Special Families, Special Needs
Most families “shop around” for sports
organizations their children want to
participate in. Most VIP families don’t,
especially with soccer, because they think
it is too much of a contact sport and not
safe for their children.
So personal outreach (face to face, word
of mouth, phone) is key.

Test 1
Methods of Teaching
I listen – I hear
I see – I understand
I do – I know
I teach and I learn
Take away something new
every time you teach!
Why do a practicum?
Doing or practicing brings confidence and
better presentation, therefore better learning
The more practice, the easier it becomes
“Teaching what you know” increases the
likelihood of success
