Persona is the voice assumed by a writer. It is not necessaryily his
or her own voice.
Allusion is a reference to a well-known person, event, or place from
history, music, art, or another literary work
Complete the Narrative Elements chart and answer questions found
on page 126 in the After Reading section (on your entry/exit task
paper). If you work with a partner each of you is responsible for this
work.
Narrative Writing:
Cultural Narrative Prompts: Select one of the following prompts to write your
narrative.
 1. Write a personal narrative about an experience of cultural difference or
insensitivity you have had or observed. What did you learn from it?
 2. Write a personal narrative about how your family’s experience or cultural
history enriched you or presented you with opportunities or challenges in
pursuing your educational goals.
 3. Tell us a story from your life, describing an experience that either
demonstrates your character or helped to shape it.
 4. Write a personal narrative about an experience that has shaped your
identity, values, and/or understanding, specifically around the issues of
race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, family background or personal,
social or historical location in the society. Reflect on how this experience
has shaped your identity, values, and/or understanding of the world around
