SECURITY LEVELS

• FACE UNLOCK – PHONE USES FACE RECOGNITION TO UNLOCK THE
PHONE. (LOW SECURITY)
• PATTERN – ENTER A PATTERN ON A GRID TO UNLOCK THE PHONE.
(MEDIUM SECURITY)
• PIN – USE A SET OF NUMBERS TO UNLOCK THE PHONE. (MEDIUM TO
HIGH SECURITY)
• PASSWORD – USE A PASSWORD TO UNLOCK THE PHONE. (HIGH
SECURITY)
USE CAUTION WHEN USING
PUBLIC NETWORKS
Some reasons why you shouldn’t use public hot spots:
• Unknown security
• You are sharing a network with people you do not know
• You become at high risk for man-in-the-middle attacks
If you have to use a public hot spot:
• Avoid accessing personal accounts (email, social media)
• Never check bank accounts or perform any financial transactions
• Try to make sure your connections are secure (https: instead of http:)

FROM UNKNOWN SOURCES
Installing apps that have not been added to the
Google Play store can open your phone for security
risks. These apps can also cause other issues with
your phone.
INSTALL AN ANTI-MALWARE OR
SECURITY APP
• DIFFERENT APPS HAVE DIFFERENT FEATURES. MAKE SURE YOU READ AND
UNDERSTAND WHAT THE APP DOES AND HOW IT PROTECTS YOU.
• SOME OF THE BETTER APPS INCLUDE:
• ANTI-MALWARE AND VIRUS SCANNING
• REMOTE LOCK AND WIPE YOUR PHONE
• TRACK YOUR PHONE’S LOCATION
• REMOTE PHOTO CAPTURING AND TEXTING/EMAILING.

• DIFFERENT APPS NEED DIFFERENT PERMISSIONS TO FUNCTION.
• BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANY APP FROM THE PLAY STORE, YOU ARE GIVEN THE
OPPORTUNITY TO READ WHAT PERMISSIONS THE APP USES.
• READ ALL PERMISSIONS SO YOU KNOW WHAT THE APP IS DOING BEFORE
YOU INSTALL IT.
• EXAMPLE - AN APP MIGHT BE USING OR EVEN LOGGING YOUR
LOCATION, YOU MIGHT NOT EVEN KNOW IT UNLESS YOU READ THESE
PERMISSIONS.
TURN OFF BLUETOOTH AND OTHER
CONNECTION SERVICES WHEN NOT IN USE
These services allow other devices to connect to your device for different
purposes. They can be very useful, but make sure they are turned off when not
in use. Some of these easily can be controlled from your notification window.
Examples
• Bluetooth – Uses a wireless technology to connect mostly peripherals,
but can also be used for data transfer.
• Hotspot – Allows other devices to connect to the Internet through your
phone.
• NFC (Near Field Communication) – For wireless data transfer. Similar to
Bluetooth, but is limited to a very short distance.
• Screen Mirroring – Allows you to display your phone on other devices.
