During my degree I successfully combined my studies with volunteer work, educational courses (in life support, immunology and international cooperation on developmental aid) and with two international internships. In the past two years I’ve combined a busy clinical residency with a representative function in our Program Committee, with the presentation of 4 clinical cases on national congresses, and with the preparation of a publication in a peer­reviewed journal as first author. Research Experience In 2008 and 2009 during my medical education, I spent two years part­time on basic research in immunology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. B. Vandekerckhove and PhD student S. Van Coppernolle in the Department of Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology and Immunology of Ghent University. The aim was to gain insight in the respective contribution of the T­cell receptor (TCR) alpha and beta chain in the TCR specificity and affinity. In october 2014 I received an FWO Grant to start on a research project at the BENE lab of Prof. Dr. Harry Heimberg.
