Introduction/Acknowledgement
• SCAG started from the discussion of an idea proposed by Dr. Rebecca
Wooten, Assistant Professor with the department of Mathematics
and Statistics with her doctoral candidate Kenneth Baah when they
were working of submitting a NSF grant proposal during the 2013 Fall
semester. Hence, they forwarded or sold the idea to the director of
Statistics program, Dr. Tsokos who agreed to help promote and
initiate such a proposal and it then began at the small office of Dr.
Wooten, grew from there to a computer lab at the department of
Economics where we currently meet on every Friday with an average
of 5 students and two faculty members.
Mission Statement
• SCAG will work with graduate student in Statistics to hone their skills
in Statistical Methodology, Computational Statistics, Research,
Statistical Consulting and Analytics. Responsibilities include data
acquisition, data management, modeling, and promotion of the
organization's mission by offer statistical consulting to clients in the
university community in support of their academic research,
enriching the education and training of statisticians through their
involvement in statistical consulting.
Data Management
• SCAG is interested in working with data types including qualitative
and quantitative data in various formats/software including but not
limited to txt files, Excel, Access, ArcGIS, R, SAS and Survey Monkey.
All collections will be done by collaborating research and resulting
analysis will be maintained for future use as course material covering
Analytics, publications and for grant proposals.
• The major areas of SCAG research are : Environmental, Medical and
Other. The Other folder will be subdivided into more specific areas of
research in the future as the consulting demands.

• SACG has already started consulting with institutions and/or
individuals such as iMaRS, USF St. Petersburg, FL on the
environmental area of research; Turbidity, where RA stands for
Regression Analysis. Other standard abbreviations include: TS (Time
Series Analysis), SA (Survival Analysis), etc.
