Origin: dried ripe fruit of pimpinella anisum
family umbelliferae.
 Color: greyishbrown.
 Odor: aromatic
 Taste: aromatic sweet.
 Kind: true, simple, dry,
schizocarpic, cremocarp.
 Insertion: inferior
 Dehiscence: indehiscent

1)Entire Cremocarp:

apex), crowned with ringlike stylopod & attached
to slender pedicle.

2) Carpophore: forked
3) Dorsal side: hairy, shows 5 slightly
raised 1ry ridges.
4) Ventral side: shows 2 dark
longitudinal bands ( vittae )
5- median longitudinal cut (MLC)
1 seed in each mericarp filling the whole cavity
of pericarp.
 Testa: adhere to pericarp (very thin with
raphe on flat side.
 Kind: anatropous, albuminous with oily
orthospermous endosperm.
 Embryo: dicot, apical, small & straight.

