the “Mother city”.

• -The Kruger National
Park is the largest game
reserve in South Africa.
• -The park is located in the
northeast of the country,
in the eastern Transvaal.
• -It covers more than
20,000 km2.
• -There are many animals.

Created in the 1950s, Soweto is a township
in South Africa.
In 1951, because of the new law, Apartheid,
Soweto was designed to receive only black
residents.

apartheid.

In 1976, because of the troubles, Soweto
was known in the international news when
the government imposed the teaching of
Afrikaans.

Soweto has a museum dedicated to Nelson
Mandela, it's a museum made from his

most populous city in
South Africa after
Johannesburg.

• The rainbow nation
symbolizes unity.

HISTORY
• Nelson Mandela was
imprisoned because he led the
military wing of the African
National Congress (ANC). He
fought against the political
domination of the white
minority and against Apartheid
in South Africa. He stayed 27
years in prison. It is a very sad
life!
AIDS
In South Africa about one million of people live
with AIDS
Here is the sign of the fight against AIDS
South Africa is greatly affected
But today on the 25th of April 2010, a campaign
was put in place and voted
AIDS is the most important problem for young
people.

named Gadla Henry
Mphakanyiswa.
He was a member of a tribe and
served as chief.
He lived from about 1880 to 1928.
Mandela's father had four wives.
Nelson Mandela was born to his
third wife, Nosekeni Fanny.

Bantu.
It opposed racial discrimination.
This is the symbol of ANC.
Nelson Mandela joined ANC in 1944.
He was arrested in 1962 for 27 years
and was not the only member of ANC
who was arrested for life. He was free

APARTHEID
Apartheid was abolished in 1991.
Apartheid was a law about
segregation.
Blacks and whites were separated.
Apartheid created a lot of conflicts
in South Africa.
ARRESTATION

Mandela’s cell.
• Nelson Mandela was
arrested in 1962.
• He went to jail in 1962
for 27 years.
• Nelson Mandela was
free in 1990.
PRESIDENCY
• Nelson Mandela was
elected on May 10th
1994, age 72.
• Nelson Mandela is the
first black president of the
Republic of South Africa.
• He won the peace price.
• He ended his presidency
in 1999.
DESMOND TUTU

He was born 7 October 1931 in
Klerksdorp . ( South Africa).

He created the Black consciousness
Movement.

He fought for Apartheid with Nelson
Mandela.

He fought against AIDS, because he
was sick too.

He became the President Commission
of Truth and Reconciliation.

He is a priest.

Nelson Mandela in 1994
-Even after the end of Apartheid in South
Africa , this country stayed a divided
nation because of the colour of skin
-To unify the country Nelson Mandela
decided to gather strength with the
captain of the rugby team of south Africa
- Their goal was to win the championship
in 1995
