INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
Intent to Register
is the process by which you indicate your
academic plans for the 2013-14 academic
year.
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
During Program Counselling
1. Look up Intent to Register
information and the schedules for
ADO/Departmental information
sessions on the King’s/ADO website:
http://kings.uwo.ca/currentstudents/courses-enrolment/degreeinformation/intent-to-register/
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
2. Attend the information sessions:
• the ADO: general information on how to build your degree
and summer school
• the departments: subject-specific information (how do you
know if a subject is for you?)
• the School of Social Work: (what are the BSW admission
requirements?)
• Student Financial Services: funding and fees (what can
you afford?)
• professional schools (Education, Law, etc.) (how should
you prepare for future graduate programs?)
• career counselling (how can you prepare for careers?)
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
3. Meet your faculty during their posted office
hours:
http://kings.uwo.ca/kings/assets/File/currentStud
ents/faculty-office-hours.pdf
Using the information gathered
during these sessions, you
complete your ITR.
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
Submitting your ITR
• Submit your Intent to Register online (go
to studentservices.uwo.ca , and to My
Possibilities; go through the steps
described below)
• Submitting by March 31st will allow
optimum access to F/W 2013 courses
• You need NOT choose your courses now
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
What if I miss the ITR deadline
(March 31st)?
• Early submission of your ITR optimizes your
course selection.
• If you are late, you must complete a paper
form at the Academic Dean’s Office and your
access to the registration system will be
delayed.
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
You can’t submit an ITR online if you are
 a special student (you already have a degree)
 in a Certificate program
 planning to be “undeclared” (not be in a module like a
Major). This is an option to avoid if possible.
 in a concurrent degree program (i.e., in a professional
degree and a B.A. undergrad degree at the same time)
 a re-registrant (have voluntarily taken the last year/s off)
 seeking admission to the Bachelor of Social Work
program. **
Are you in one of the above situations? We can answer your
questions at the Academic Dean’s Office (DL 104).
Academic Dean’s Office
INTENT TO REGISTER and PROGRAM COUNSELLING
** Students who are applying for admission to
the BSW program cannot indicate "Social Work"
as a program choice on their ITR. They will
submit an online ITR for an alternate/backup
degree/module combination, and if admitted to
the BSW program, their registration will be
changed for them.
Students currently enrolled in the BSW program
(Year III progressing to Year IV and Extended
Study students) must complete an online ITR
by March 31, 2013.
Academic Dean’s Office

Summer school advisory
Summer courses are condensed and are
consequently extremely challenging! Allow
for 2-3 hours of reading time for each hour of
class time. You will need to manage your
time skilfully. It may be harder than you think
to combine a summer course with a heavy
work schedule.
