Self-Reliance Exploration: Manuals and Topics
When you are independent, resilient, and in a position to serve others, you can say that you are self-reliant
It is both a temporal principle because it comes in a certain time of one’s life time and at the same time, it is a spiritual
principle which was or has been embedded in you and tends to push a person to want to be self-reliant. It remains a
guiding principle through a life time.
I read starting and growing my business. I read from chapter 1. I chose the topic because I feel like I would like to
start my our business in the near future and I need an idea of how to go about it
I found a lot of valuable information like acting on correct principles as a matter of fact many principles
contributes to business success and I agree with all of them, Vision; what made you decide to do what you are doing
now. Work; is a spiritual requirement. Inspiration; what drives you? Persistence; I will finish what I started by the power
of the Holy Ghost. Accountability; I will remain accountable for all my doings and therefore I will only do things which
are pleasing to our Heavenly Father. Abundance mentality; God will and He have provided. Time management; I will
wisely use the resources given to me including time. The power of small and simple things; big castles were built by
starting with one stone. Commitment; I will achieve nothing without commitment
What I have learned will benefit me, my family, and my friends in that I will become a better person, focused
and committed
What I learned that surprised me is that, there are so many wonderful resources available to make a business
succeed and probably move from an SME to a multi-billion business
How might you go about implementing something you learned? I will start small the moment I decide to start
my business
What are some additional topics or chapters that interest you? All of them
If you were to continue learning more about self-reliance through the resources provided by the church, what
might you learn about or do next? There are many but let me say I will start with education for better work. We
need to understand so that we can work smart.
I also watched several short videos;
1. Parenting With Christ. I know that I am just but a steward who has been given the responsibility of bring up and
taking care of God’s children those who has been entrusted to my care. I run to Christ every day to ask for
guidance as the children grow. I ask God to have His will upon my children so that His grace will always protect
them. I cannot claim to know how to bring up a child because I have never been a parent before I became one. I
need His wisdom, love, understanding, patience, endurance and kindness to see my children through teenage,
young adult and adults. I love the heading of the video and it made me want to watch the video
2. Overcoming Challenges; many people are addicted to different things in life and it is up to us to make sure we
do not become slaves to those addictions by mastering them. We can only do this through Christ who
strengthens us, Philippians 4:11–13.
3. The Parable of the Slope | Elder Clark G. Gilbert; it is not about where we start or when we found ourselves as
the starting point, but which direction we take our lives towards and on whom we rely on. Christ is the answer
4. Suicide Prevention: How to Help; the rate at which people are taking their life is worrying and we need to learn
how we can reduce or end this menace and this video is very educative and need to be shared
5. Angels in the Mirror; the moment we allow God to run our lives, the future becomes purposeful and we have a
hope. He says that He knew us before were born Psalm 139:15-16, “When my bones were being formed,
carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there—
you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them
ever began”, and again “'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '” — Jeremiah 29:11 and that is our Heavenly Father
6. Life is Incredibly Unfair - In Our Favor; we only need to be prepared for whatever happens tomorrow. That is
what I can say about this video. Let us fix our eyes on God who is our author and He has a reason for every
occurrence
7. Daily Restoration; like the prodigal son, we still have a given chance to come back home. Someone is waiting for
us and we can never be rejected
8. Are You Really There? Our Heavenly Father is always there. He is a mountain and refuge. It is us who walk away
from Him, but He remains steadfast and visible waiting for us to come back to Him.
