“Hello, guys!” said by Tiya Dean as soon as she entered the meeting call. Tiya Dean
or her full name Hasya Atiyah Khairudin recently gained a lot of attention globally as one of
her postings on Twitter went on viral and receive a huge amount of engagement with a total
of 18000 retweets and 176000 likes. The posting is about her being admitted into one of the
top universities in the world, Stanford University. Tiya is surely has become a role model for
youngsters in Malaysia as she had a successful journey throughout her entire life as a
student. Therefore, she was chosen to be interviewed as our influencer.
Being an influencer is surely tiring as they are having a lot of social media platforms
that need to be taken care of. One of my friends throw out a question on how does she
handled herself from being pressured and overwhelmed by having a lot of audience on her
social media accounts. “ I'm always hesitant about the message that I'll be delivering when
I’m posting something”. Then she went on silent for a moment. As an influencer with a huge
audience, she has a sense of responsibility to be the best version of herself to avoid being
perceived in a negative way.
It was my turn to ask a question to Tiya and I was very excited because have been
following her for years. One of the platforms that I’m being updated with is her blog page. I
was always curious that does any influencer has their own favorite social media platforms or
do they enjoy all of them. “What if you had to choose one platform? What the platform will be
and which one do you prefer the most and why?” said me. Tiya was really excited to answer
the question because she has a solid answer for it. She would choose Instagram because
she wanted to keep in touch with her relatives and friends when she went to study abroad.
Instagram would be the best platform for you to share your life journey compared to others
such as Twitter and youtube.
Unfortunately, Tiya stopped being active on her social media or is currently on hiatus,
especially on her blog page and YouTube. We asked Tiya is there were any reasons for her
to be on hiatus which is almost a year long. She said that she generally stop because she
got really busy with her studies for the past year with all the A-level and SAT thingy. She
also stated that she will be active on her social media platforms when she has done with her
A-level at Kolej Yayasan UEM.
We didn’t even realise that we have been interviewing Tiya for almost 30 minutes.
Therefore we ended the meetings by having Tiya give a piece of advice to the youngster.
Her biggest advice is to take risks. This is because we will never be better in our lives unless
we push ourselves to the limits. “I pushed myself out of my comfort zone but I wasn’t
pushing myself to the breaking point, but just to the point where you grow”. Said Tiya. We
should not be afraid of making mistakes because it is the most excellent way to learn about
life.
In conclusion, having Tiya in our interview really amazed us with her life journey and
her perspective of life. Being a champion in a national debate competition and at the same
time having a balanced social life was amazing. I believed that Tiya would be a great role
model for Malaysian students to excel in their academic life.
