Explain this statement by Socrates, “virtue is knowledge and that knowledge is a virtue. “Only
the examined life is worth living”
Knowledge is defined as the state or fact of knowing, familiarity, awareness, or
understanding gained through experience or study, whereas virtue is defined as moral
excellence and righteousness.
To begin with, we understand virtue to be excellence of character, goodness, and so
on. When Socrates says knowledge is virtue, we can grasp his meaning; he advocated living a
life based on wisdom or knowledge, which always helps to shape our lives and character,
making them good and harmonious. Furthermore, it implies that virtue allows you to live your
life to the fullest. It primarily advocated for people to understand the truth about being a man
and to live a moral life. We can understand and act correctly because we have knowledge.
We simply need to apply knowledge correctly in order to understand virtue.
