PISA as an international benchmark for
the positioning of the quality of its
education system as compared with other
countries in the world.

Currently the position of Malaysia is still far
behind as compared to countries such as
Singapore, Japan and Finland.
— Hence one of the focus and the main
challenge is to increase the students '
achievement in the TIMSS and PISA by
improving the quality of teachers, especially in
higher order thinking skills(HOTS) and
language proficiency.
— Efforts are also taken to improve students '
achievement, particularly in rural schools.
