Freedom of Information Act 2000 – Request for Information
Regarding your request for information, our response is set out below. Please note that all
Continuing Healthcare claims are handled by the Continuing Healthcare Department on
behalf of Bradford City, Bradford Districts and Airedale Wharfedale and Craven CCGs.
1. The number of claims received by NHS Airedale Wharfedale and Craven CCG following
the Department of Health announced cut off
The previous NHS Bradford and Airedale PCT in total received 618 written enquiries for
retrospective claims.
2. The number of staff engaged / being engaged to carry out retrospective reviews and
current assessments respectively
There are 8 members of staff working on retrospective reviews. There are 19 members of
staff working on current assessments.
3. Where additional staff is being sought an estimate for when you expect the recruitment
process to be completed
At present no additional recruitment is being sought.
4. The estimated time frame for completion of both retrospective reviews and current
assessments on average once the team is in situ if not already
We are unable to give an estimated time frame for the completion of retrospective
reviews until we have screened and processed all the applications.
In terms of current assessments, 80-85% of these are completed within 28 days of the
referral being received. There are some delays which are outside our control, e.g.
awaiting the allocation of a social worker, or for family members to be available to be part
of the assessment process
5. Whether the retrospective review team and current assessment team are based in the
same office. If not what are the addresses and contact details for the respective teams?

Neither retrospective reviews nor the current assessment process is being outsourced.
