Nueces – Brownsville Gas Pipeline (Texas, USA)
Nueces – Brownsville gas pipeline will transport natural gas from the South of Texas. This pipeline will
help to meet the requirements of natural gas in the Eastern, Central and Western regions of the
country.
Since this project will be located in the United States, it will be tendered in accordance with the
process of that country through a Request for Proposal (RFP).
This project will be interconnected on the Mexican side with the Sur de Texas – Tuxpan (Marino) gas
pipeline, which is about to start its bidding process. This system will supply natural gas to new power
generation plants, as well as those currently operating with fuel oil, which will be converted to use
natural gas as their base fuel.
Transparencia Mexicana will overview the bidding process in order to comply the highest standards of
transparency.
Project Details:
The project comprises the engineering, procurement, acquisition of real estate
rights, permits and governmental approvals, funding, construction, operation
and maintenance of a pipeline with capacity of 2,600 million standard cubic
feet per day (MMSCFD). The pipeline will have a length of 250 kilometers (km)
and a 42-inch diameter.
The estimated project implementation time is 30 months.
