THE ELEMENTS OF A GOOD VOICE MAIL GREETING

1-2 second pause before your greeting is played to callers.

Your name.

The name of your organization/department.

The day of the week.

What key(s) callers can press on their telephone for immediate assistance. The Meridian Mail uses key "0". See the Merdian Mail Voice Message User Guide to learn how to set-up the

"Assigning a Custom Operator" feature. When callers can expect a return call. The name and extension of a colleague who can provide assistance.

Example:

Hello. This is Charles Lavender of the Telecommunications Department of Austin Community

College. For the week of May 2nd I will be at a conference and not available to answer your call until Friday. If you require assistance before then please contact Jody Scherer at 223-7744. If you need to reach someone immediately please dial “0”. Thank you. (19 seconds)
