ePDA with PD
Communicator
ePDA and Partial Discharge
The Enhanced Partial Discharge Analyzer (ePDA) can trend
generator stator operation in order to recommend corrective
action before failure occurs by detecting and quantifying the
level of partial discharge activity.
Partial discharge is a localized electrical discharge that causes
gradual erosion and eventual failure of the insulation system.
•Ethernet connection for remote access and compact flash card
for local access
• Up to two years data storage
• Access to GE PD database for fleet data
Benefits
Incorporating an ePDA into your generator maintenance plan
• Eliminates traditional testing
can help prevent this breakdown.
• Reduces need for in-house PDA “expertise”
ePDA can detect several different fault conditions using continuous
online monitoring. This will help achieve higher reliability stator
insulation assessment and provide a fast, reliable diagnosis.
PDIV puts the “e” in ePDA
• Eliminates a need for data collection at site
• Aides outage planning
Applicable
• All air, hydrogen, and liquid cooled generators
Partial Discharge Inception Voltage (PDIV) is an additional
symptom of stator insulation aging. GE has a proprietary feature
to detect PDIV during generator startup. PDIV occurs as terminal
voltage increases, therefore allowing a more complete health
assessment of the generator.
Features
•
Continuous online PD monitoring
•Diagnostic rule engine enhances trending and interpretation
based upon specific operating conditions
• Automatic Partial Discharge Inception Voltage trending capability
• Best noise/signal separation and identification method
• Stand-alone high-speed digital data acquisition system
