people whose livelihoods depend on the land, helping them transform the way they grow food, harvest wood and
host travelers.
Position Summary:
The Markets Assistant will work with the North American Markets team on project delivery and implementation
of our SmartSource/ Corporate Advisory program work. The Assistant will work with the Senior Manager to
provide general administrative and programmatic support to for the execution of our advisory services related to
responsible sourcing of wood and paper, and other commodities as assigned. The Assistant will work with the
Senior Manager, S/he will be directly involved in various administrative aspects of project implementation
including scheduling, assisting with the preparation of cost proposals and client support, and providing
preliminary review of sourcing reports. The Rainforest Alliance has been a leader in the field of responsible
sourcing for over approximately 28 years, and we are looking to appoint a talented and motivated individual to
join our Markets Transformation team to better meet the needs of clients addressing the sustainability of their
supply chains.
Responsibilities:
 Assist with the execution of our Smartsource/ Corporate Advisory/ Responsible Sourcing partnerships and
projects for clients. This includes budgeting, development of service agreements, logistical planning, and
support to staff and clients;
 Assist with project implementation and annual evaluation/validation schedules;
 Support to Markets team in the administrative aspects of program management;
 Other administrative and project implementation tasks as necessary; and
 Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources, Ecological Economics, Sustainable Business or equivalent field. ;
 Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience;
 Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet);
 Must be able to work independently, multi-task and work under tight deadlines;
 Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;



Dependability, diplomacy, good organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team;
and;
Strong customer service skills;
Experience and/or knowledge related to sustainability standards, auditing, and certification, in the context of
natural resource management (forestry, agriculture, fisheries, REDD+) preferred.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
