THE ROME I REGULATION ON THE LAW APPLICABLE TO CONTRACTUAL
OBLIGATIONS: IMPLICATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The Rome I Regulation on the Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations, which
comes into effect on 17 December 2009, has important implications for cross-border
contracts for employment or sales of goods or services, whether in Europe or further
afield. The Regulation replaces the Rome Convention of 1980 and has changed the law
in a number of ways. Legal practitioners will need to be familiar with the new law when
advising on contract and disputes involving employment, product sales, insurance or the
purchase of foreign property, for example.
The School of Law of Trinity College Dublin is holding a major international
conference on the Regulation on Friday 9 October and Saturday 10 October.
The
speakers are world leaders in their subject. They include:

Dr. Janeen Carruthers, University of Glasgow
