Arthritis Foundation's Walk with Ease (WWE) program is an evidence-based, structured 6-week physical activity and self-management program that can be done by individuals or groups led by a trained leader. Adults with (or without) arthritis and beginners to the physically fit are the target audience for the program. Walk with

Ease program goals include promoting successful physical activity, promoting selfmanagement for walk safely and comfortably, and encouraging participants to continue walking. OSU Extension has contracted to provide an average of 4 programs in every county with an average of 12 participants per program by the end of June 2017.

OSU Extension will oversee 75 WWE programs with an average of 12 participants in each program.

Briefly describe the process of how the need for this program was determined

The OSU Extension FCH program is documenting and evaluating the implementation and program outcomes of WWE.

What are the short-term (learning) outcomes for this program? (Narrative or outline form

Volunteer leaders will be identified and trained using WWE online training materials to lead WWE groups of approximately 12 participants. In-person trainings for volunteer leaders will also be conducted around the state. Volunteer leaders will

What are the medium-term (action, behavior change) outcomes for this program?

Volunteer leaders will recruit and encourage participation of the targeted numbers of participants/session and provide additional support by means of technical assistance, identifying a suitable location for program activities, providing supplies, etc. as needed for program success. WWE participants and volunteer leaders will be linked via Extension resources, with other programs following WWE to help maintain physical activity participation and programming.
