Make the “Periodic Table Wall of Fame”
The grade 11 chemistry students at St. Marguerite d’Youville are the creators of the
Periodic Table Wall of Fame. You will create an element tile to submit for consideration
of placement on the Wall of Fame. Students in subsequent years will attempt to exceed/
better the quality of the element tiles on the wall. (Is that possible?) Be sure to check
back with us to see if your tile still remains on the wall.
What images can be used on each tile?
The artwork and image chosen for each element can be obvious or subtle in connection. Make
it fun and interesting. Please do not use logos that are covered under copyright.
How to make an elemental tile?
Be creative. Use any medium that works. The base of the tile should be card stock. You could
even use the actual element to create the tile (no radioactive elements allowed – haha).
Guidelines
• The element tile will be presented on a 6" by 6" square of card stock.
• Periodic number and symbol must be clearly displayed in the tile.
• Consider the use of colour, texture, hand-drawn and/or computer generated images and text.
• On the back of the tile, include a paragraph (100 words) to explain the design concept, and
the process used to make the creative tile.
