Notes 12.3 Introduction to Probablility
Probability – the likelihood that an event will occur. Probability of an event occurring must be
between 0 and 1.
Formula: Probability event A will occur: P( A) =
number of ways A can happen
total number of outcomes
EX: A spinner has 8 equal-size sections numbered from 1 to 8. Find the probability of :
a.) spinning a 6.
b.) spinning an odd number.
c.) spinning a number greater than 5.

Ex: A card is drawn from a deck of 52-cards, find each probability.
