Unit 2: iSearch Paper Format
1. Introduction – (Minimum ½ page in length)
What is your topic?
What area of the topic are you specifically going to research & present?
General info?
History?
Different viewpoints?
What do you already know about your topic?
What are your current opinions regarding the topic?
May use “I.”
2. My Search Process – (Minimum of 1 page in length)
In this section of the paper, describe the process (or the steps) of the research.
Describe what sources you began with, discuss people you talked to or
interviewed, and / or library resources you consulted.
What parts of the research process bogged you down or gave you trouble?
What parts sparked breakthroughs or "ah-ha" moments?
What parts did you find most interesting?
Think of this as a conversation. May use “I."
3. What I have learned – (Minimum of 1 page In length)
This portion of the iSearch is the only part that will look like a traditional research
paper.
Explain what you learned about the topic and support like you would in any
research paper.
MLA parenthetical documentation as needed to properly site and support your
information.
4. Reflection – (Minimum ½ page)
Describe which of the things you learned mean the most to you and why those
findings are important.
Explain in this section how this work will affect the way you act or think about the
issue in the future.
You may also want to provide further questions or areas about your research that
you may have liked to explore if you had the time.
Discuss the skills you have developed or improved upon as a researcher and
writer.
