Building Lockdowns
KRS 158 requires building lockdown practice to be implemented at
least twice during the school year. Building lockdowns are used to
protect building occupants from potential dangers in the building. The
following procedures will be followed for building lockdowns:
 Students are cleared from the halls immediately and report to
the nearest classroom.
 Those needing special assistance are taken to nearest available
classroom.
 All windows and doors are locked and covered, including
exterior doors, and lights are shut off
 All occupants move to interior walls, staying away from all
doors and windows.
 All occupants remain quiet and do not leave classroom for any
reason.
 No one, other than emergency and school personnel, are
admitted to the building while it is under lockdown.
 This policy is under review and may be revised during the
school year.
Library Policy
 Students will be allowed to check out 2 books at a time.
 Books are checked out for two weeks. (A due date is stamped in
the back of their book upon checkout to remind them of when
their book is due).
 Books can be renewed for an additional week to prevent
overdue fines.

Overdue Books
If a book becomes overdue the student is charged .05 (5 cents)
for each day the book is overdue.





Students cannot check out another book until all fines are paid
in full. (It is very important to keep charges paid due to
classroom check outs being part of the student’s grades.)
Once the book is 1 month overdue it will be considered lost and
the student will be responsible for the cost of the book and any
fines that have accumulated. Parents will be notified by mail.
If the book is found at a later date, the student will be refunded
the price of the book. Fines will not be refunded.
Each semester there will be 1 amnesty day ( total of 2 per year)
when fines will be forgiven with the return of the overdue book.
The amnesty day date will be posted in the library and noted in
the school’s daily announcements.
Any student entering high school from middle school will still
be responsible for any fines or charges owed at the middle
school. They will not be allowed to check out books until they
have settled their account with the middle school.
All fines and/or lost book charges must be paid before the end
of the school year.
Classroom Checkouts
 Books checked out as a class will be automatically renewed
until the teacher is finished with the book. At this point the
students will have 1 day to return books before fines are

Attendance Rewards Plan
Explanation:
All Carlisle County High School students (9-12) are eligible to
participate in the attendance reward program.
Students are rewarded for minimum grade outcomes and outstanding
attendance during the school year. The intention of this plan is to
reward students and in no way should this policy be construed as a
punishment.
Attendance and task success are critical areas in the workforce and
CCHS is attempting to teach the soft skill of admirable and outstanding
attendance as well as task success in order to promote the importance of
attendance and success in the job market beyond years in high school.
Outstanding attendance includes limiting unexcused and excused
absences during the school year in order to produce students that have a
keen sense of work ethic and obligation. (Please keep in mind that an
accumulation of unexcused absences are, by law, a legal issue for the
District Director of Pupil Personnel.)
Outstanding attendance provides a greater opportunity for excellent
grades, improved college and career preparation, success on required
tests (ACT, PLAN, state testing), developing relationships, less stress
through makeup activities, and an overall improved school experience.
Classroom success is defined by meeting minimum grade outcomes
defined below.
Criteria:
The reward for school attendance will be based on a combination of
grade success and attendance in a specific class and class period as
follows:
Grade in the class
Total allowable unexcused and
excused absences
A (taking final optional)
6 or 3 for sem. course
B (taking final optional)
4 or 2 for sem. course
C (taking final optional)
2 or 1 for sem. course
D
must take the final examination
F
must take the final examination
The intent of making the final optional for A’s, B’s, and C’s is to
enable the student that feels the final examination could improve
his/her grade or numerical average to another level of performance to
have this option.
Reward:
The reward for meeting the minimum criteria for school attendance will
be exemption from final examinations for a specific class in a specific
period of the day.
This does not exempt the student from attending school on the day of
the final examination. During testing an exempt student will be
expected to read or study pertinent curriculum materials while
classmates are completing the final examination.
In the event a student is absent on finals day and the absence
disqualifies the student from finals exemption, the student will be given
an “I” in the class until the time in which the final test is completed
(Instructor’s discretion).
**Students taking an “End of Course” state required examination
(Algebra 2, Biology, US History, English 2) cannot be exempt from the
state required final. Students taking a college dual-credit course cannot
be exempt from the college final. However, if there is another teacher
made final aside from the state required or college exams, students may
be deemed exempt from the additional finals required by the teacher.
In addition, students taking a college dual credit course or an APEX
course cannot be exempted from a final exam.
College/Career Readiness (CCR) Rewards Plan
Explanation:
All Carlisle County High School students (9-12) are eligible to
participate in the CCR reward plan.
Students are rewarded for meeting CCR criteria during their four years
of high school. The intention of the SBDM plan is to reward students
and in no way should this plan be construed as a punishment.
College/Career Readiness is critical to post-secondary success in the
workforce, college, or military. CCHS is attempting to teach the soft
skills of work ethic and self-motivation in order to promote the
importance of College/Career Readiness and therefore success in life
beyond high school graduation.
Criteria & Reward:
Students will be awarded up to 4 mentoring days to be used within the
last week of school during the senior year of high school provided the
student accurately completes and submits an Educational Enhancement
Opportunity (EHO) form for each mentoring day earned. If students
must take a final exam in a course, the students shall attend school for
the time of the exam and then be excused for the mentoring day. The
rewards for CCR will be based on successful completion of the
following criteria:
College Ready or Career Ready
=
