I. Chair Ensor called the Meeting to order at 3:30 pm. II. The minutes of the meeting of January 22, 2015 were approved 8-­‐0-­‐0. III. New Business A. College of Arts and Sciences 1.
ART a. The following Requests for New Courses were approved 8-­‐0-­‐0 with the comment on all courses “If a non-­‐course prerequisite cannot be enforced, we suggest that it be moved to the course description” and regarding ARTS 657 “The course title should be Graduate Timed-­‐Based Media III.” i. ARTS 555 Time-­‐based Media ii. ARTS 556 Installation and Performance iii. ARTS 558 Web and Interactive Media iv. ARTS 655 Graduate Time-­‐Based Media I v. ARTS 656 Graduate Time-­‐Based Media II vi. ARTS 657 Graduate Time-­‐Based Media II 2.
CMTA a. The following Proposal for Program Revision was approved 8-­‐0-­‐0 with the comment “The phrase ‘required minors’ should be changed to match the catalog language.” i. Entertainment and Design Technology 3.
ENGL a. The following Requests for Course Revisions were approved 8-­‐0-­‐0 with the comment “In order to avoid confusion should there be changes in General Education, we suggest deleting the phrase ‘writing intensive’ in the course description and adding a sentence indicating to students that the course will require substantial amounts of writing.” i. WRTG 323 Writing in the Professional World ii. WRTG 324 Principles of Technical Communication b. The following Request for New Course was approved 8-­‐0-­‐0. i. LING 422 Introduction to Phonetics 4.
HIST/PHIL a. The following Request for Course Revision was approved 8-­‐0-­‐0. i. HIST/WGST 336 History of Women in the United States, 1800 to the Present b. The following Request for New Course was approved 8-­‐0-­‐0. i. HIST/WGST 3xx Women in North America to 1865 B. College of Technology 1.
School of Technology and Professional Service Management a. The following Request for Course Revision was passed 8-­‐0-­‐0. i. BMMT 396 Information and Media Information 2.
School of Visual and Built Environments a. The following Requests for New Courses were passed 8-­‐0-­‐0 with the comments “We suggest eliminating specific software from the course description” and “The place of this course in the program is not indicated.” i. SAG 165 Introduction to Game Design ii. SAG 215 Game Development and Planning iii. SAG 290 Introduction to Game Engines iv. SAG 385 Advanced Modeling I v. SAG 475 Advanced Modeling II b. The following Proposal for New Program was not passed 8-­‐0-­‐0 with the following comments: “1. The minor is not multidisciplinary as the rationale claims. In particular, creative writing and traditional art mediums are not represented in the required courses. 2. There is very little gaming in the minor. 3. A justification/rationale for the program in addition to student failure to complete the major must be provided. 4. There is no rationale provided in the proposal for why the seven specific courses listed should constitute the minor. In particular, SAG 305 and CMT 421 are included in the minor but are not among the required courses for the major. (SAG 305 is included in one of the two cognate options for the major.) 5. The section of the proposal on Student Learning Outcomes discusses means of assessment, but it does not identify any Student Learning Outcomes.” i. Simulation, Animation, and Gaming Minor IV.
