Scanner Reset Process
STEP
ACTION
Over 95% of scanner problems can be resolved when the scanner is reset.
1.
Reset the scanner in HED
1. Click “Scanner Reset” (top right menu)
2. Bar codes appear

Invalid Barcode Scans: What To Do
If resetting the scanner does not work, TAKE CARE OF THE PATIENT.
Save the barcode, completely fill out a yellow ticket and get the barcode and the yellow ticket to the
PHARMACY.
1. Addressograph/Patient Label (Required to process) – Important so scan can be tested against the
same patient.
2. Your name (so we can get back to you)
3. Unit Name
4. Date/Time of Scanning Issue (Needed to compare ordered time vs. scan time)
5. Computer ID last 3 letters (problem might be with the scanner)
6. Additional Information
7. Medical Barcode with ticket
IF YOU GET THIS MESSAGE WHEN SCANNING THE ARMBAND AFTER SCANNING MEDS
1. Close the warning popup – if you see the confirm screen now – click on confirm.
You inadvertently scanned the armband 2x and the second one was after Admin Rx already
started launching the confirm screen.
2. Verify you are scanning the account # barcode and not the MRN.
