Lifestyles of Rickshaw Pullers: A Phenomenological Investigation

The sight of rickshaw pullers is a common phenomenon in the Dhaka city
of Bangladesh. This study employs phenomenology, a qualitative
methodology, to investigate the lifestyle of rickshaw pullers. For this a total
of twelve respondents have been chosen from different parts of the city.
Data have been collected through interviews that lasted, on average,
around forty minutes. Their responses reveal as to how they go about their
daily lives with majority of them taking pride in their profession. The study
concludes with a few suggestions vis-à-vis potential areas of future
research in this regard.
