General Assembly Agenda 22 September 2011

 Call to Order o At 10:36 pm President Cindy Zhang called the 6 th General Assembly meeting of 2011-2012 to order

 Attendance o Quorum is established

 Agenda Approval o Motion to approve the agenda

 Seconded, passed

 President Election o Question raised on the validity of the election based on the Constitution

 Came to the conclusion that the way we interpreted it was not unconstitutional

 Therefore we will continue with the election o Nominations

 Cindy Zhang is nominated by Carson Lewis and accepts

 Tim Watkins is Nominated by Wynn Tashman and accepts o Cindy presents and Tim leaves the room o Cindy answers questions

 Motion to extend the period of questioning by 2 minutes

 Seconded, passed o Tim presents and Cindy leaves the room o Tim answers questions o Both candidates leave the room o Pro-Con Debate o Discussion o 10-Minute Recess o Meeting is called back to order at 11:19pm

 Appointment of Parliamentarian o Hussien Salama presents o Floor is opened for questions o Hussien leaves the room o Point of Information

 No, the application period has passed.

 He’s qualified enough to make these meetings more efficient

 Motion to close debate and approve by unanimous consent

 Hussien is approved as Parliamentarian o Hussien recites the oath of office

 Hall Reports o Motion to limit hall reports to 30 seconds each

 Halloween party was a great success o Centennial

 Halloween party was a great success

 Had their first film series on Tuesday and will have another in the perch this Tuesday about advocacy issues o Hughes

 Halloween party was a great success

 Will be doing floor olympics o Leonard

 Working on multiple campaigns

 Has multiple events coming up o Letts, Clark, and Roper

 Halloween party was a great success

 Encourages you all to register for Leading Beyond the Limits o McDowell

 Halloween party was a great success

 A member of the E-Board resigned

 Will be holding events to get members of each floor to meet each other o Nebraska

 Had pumpkin carving on Thursday and it went well o Tenley Campus

 Tenley Tailgate and Halloween event were very successful

 Reassigning roles and bringing in new members to fill vacancies

 Executive Board Reports o President

 Found a Parliamentarian

 Working with the AU Green Eagles to continue our sustainability efforts o Vice President of Advocacy and Community Coordination

 Leading Beyond the Limits

 This Sunday from 10am-2pm

 We’re tabling this Friday (tomorrow) to encourage people to register

 Advocacy Roundtable is working on a bunch of resolutions o Vice President of Finance and Administration

 We spend over $1000 per year, providing food for GA

 We won’t provide food anymore, except for the first and last meetings of the year o Questions

 Where does the $1000 come from?

 From all of the halls’ spending combined o Discussion

 We shouldn’t be spending any money on ourselves

 This is a resolution that allows us to put more money into the programs that all residents can appreciate

 We could just cut our costs and spend less on food

 It’s nice to come into GA and have a snack

 All this is doing is waiving the requirement; you can still bring a snack if you want

 Motion to close discussion and move to a vote on the resolution
