Course Objectives
This course will introduce you to the new version of SDL Trados, Studio 2015, one of the
most dominant translation technology tools in the translation industry. You will become
familiar with the user interface and the several actions you can perform for translation and
review, as well as ways to organise and export your work effectively.
Software
SDL Trados Studio 2015
Course Content
The first part of the course will focus on the rationale behind the structure of Studio 2015 in
comparison to the previous versions and the reasons that have made it popular among
translation companies. We will also discuss the basics of translation technology and the
components of translation software
During the second part of the course, you will be introduced to the main functions of the
software and you will be guided through processes of translation, as well as building your
own projects and resources. By the completion of the tasks that follow this process, you will
be able to use Studio 2015 in order to create, complete and deliver your projects.
In the last part of the course, we will import and work on different types of files, discuss
export solutions, compatibility with other software and term bases and explain the options
available in: QA, alignment, terminology and memory management, statistics, reports etc.
Finally, participants will be added to an online group that will last for a week where they can
talk about their experience using Studio 2015 and discuss any issues with the rest of the
participants and the tutor. Participants will also be given resources on the software.
