Introduction I joined salamania medical complex in Kingdom Of Bahrain from 10/5/2009 to 2/7/2009 for my elective programme.I did it mainly medicine, pediatrics and accident and emergency. During this period, I learned a lot of things as I saw many interesting and new cases, dealing with new system, working in teamwork as a family and practice working as a doctor taking some responsibilities. Pediatrics department I joined pediatrics department for four weeks, from 10/5/2009 to 4/6/2009. During this attachment I joined two consultants. •

Dr. Fayza Aljunaid : Pediatrician (endocrinologist) I joined here for two weeks, from 10/5/2009 to 21/5/2009 and it was very useful that, I saw many interesting and I exposed to many cases in out patient clinic that usually, we do not see them during our rotations in the ward such as patient with short stature and we discuss the investigations done for these patients to find the understanding causes, the indications for growth hormone supplement and main important side effect. And luckily, I saw a patients was on growth hormone for more than two years developing side effects (diabetes and right sided hemiperesis) most probably growth hormone induced malignancy. Also, I would like to mention that, I was very proud with here system of dealing with diabetic children as it was very organized with many activities such as camping. There was also a hot‐line for any emergencies of important queries for the parents. Other important cases were discussed diabetes insipdus, congenital adrenal hyperplasia rickets with its manifestation, cystic fibrosis with diabetes, ext. Dr. Adel Moh'd Buchairi: ICU pediatrics consultant I joined him for two weeks, from 24/5/2009 to 4/6/2009 and this period was very useful wholesome as I was doing round with the doctors for critical patients who require monitoring all the time. In addition, the doctor gave me interesting cases from wards that I was clerking them: taking full history and doing full examination and then discussing the case with the doctor and discuss the management of their patient. Moreover, the doctor allows me to attach for neonatology department for one day where I was benefit a lot. Also, he gave me multiple choice questions and we solve these problem together. I joined medicine department for a month from 7/6/2009 to 2/7/2009 with two consultants. Dr. Tayseer: cardiologist •
Actually during this period, Dr. Tayseer was in sick leave because he was doing operation for cataract but I joined his team with his senior registrar (Dr. Ahmed abdulatif) for two weeks and that was from 7/6/2009 to 18/6/2009 and it was important period as I saw many important life threatening condition such as myocardial infarction , heart failure, pulmonary edema, atrial fibrillation, dilated cardiomyopathy and other important topics which we discuss the investigation and management of these cases. Most importantly, I learned how to read chest X‐ray and ECG in organized systemic approach. Dr.Yahia zaman : endocrinologist and general medicine Actually I was assigned to do rheumatology from the schedule given to me, but many doctors advise me to change and to attach to Dr. Yahia because he is very interested in teaching students and he is doing general medicine, so I will have the opportunity to see many cases. I joined Dr. yahia for two weeks, from 21/6/2009 to 2/7/2009 and I found that advice was a brilliant as I saw very important cases such as hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, diabetes, hypertension, SCD, drag over dose, pneumonia, plural effusion, osteomyelitis and many other important topics. This doctor help me to have organized system approach with open mind in approach the patient and thinking differential diagnosis, investigation and management. During the two rotations, I joined the accident and emergency department for many reasons such as to asses a new case in both departments (pediatrics and medicine) and I was interested in ANE as we can see fresh sign and symptoms and we have to think logically to reach a proper diagnosis. So I was attending ANE when I am free or in afternoon. Conclusion Finally, I enjoyed my elective attachment deeply and I was learned a lot especially because I did it my country and I become familiar with field and system of my future career.
